When you arrive at Gdańsk Główny (A-2, ul. Podwale Grodzkie 1, tel. 058 721 52 60), the main train station on ul. Podwale Grodzkie, you are a stone’s throw away from Gdańsk Old Town. Left Luggage is next to the entrance to the main lobby and is open 08:00 - 22:00. The cost is 4zł per item per day, plus 0.45zł for every 50zł of value in your bag. The currency exchange (open 24 hours) is in the hall leading off the main lobby. It does not accept credit cards or travellers’ cheques, but there is a Visa ATM inside. Public phones are either end of this hall. Getting to town. You’re in it. To get to the street, go down the steps opposite McDonald’s and turn right. Pass the old ladies selling flowers and mittens and head straight for the EMPiK bookshop. Then turn right again, and head up the steps leading to ul. Podwale Grodzkie.

Domestic train tickets can be bought on the ground floor at windows 1 -3. You can buy international tickets at kasa międzynorodowa on the first floor. Open 07:00 - 17:00. Departures (odjazdy) are indicated on the yellow board and arrivals (przyjazdy) on the white board. InterCity (IC) and express trains are quicker, warrant a seat reservation (miejscówka) which costs 17zł in IC, 10zł in express, and are more expensive than regular trains.
